AhlulBayt News Agency: Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, has warned of escalating Israeli measures targeting both the mosque and the holy city of al-Quds.
According to Shihab News, Sheikh Sabri stressed the urgent need for widespread action to counter Israeli plans concerning al-Quds and Al-Aqsa. He pointed out that since the war on the Gaza Strip began, Israeli authorities have intensified their incursions into the mosque and imposed unprecedented security restrictions.
Denouncing Israel’s actions, Sheikh Sabri highlighted the policy of forced mass displacement targeting Palestinian youths, describing it as a practice unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
He further asserted that these measures are part of Israel’s broader strategy to Judaize al-Quds and alter its Islamic identity.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third-holiest site in Islam. Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, claiming it was the historical location of two ancient Jewish temples.
Israel seized East al-Quds, the site of Al-Aqsa, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and formally annexed the city in 1980, a move never recognized by the international community.
In a landmark decision in July 2024, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s prolonged occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, ordering the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
